SPOTLIGHT: Susan Tomlinson

BRAND NEW FEATURE SEGMENT
I'm thrilled to bring you a brand new feature to LIGHTbeamers -- a monthly community spotlight highlighting the story and journey of one of our resident LIGHTbeamers.

INTRODUCING Susan Tomlinson
Susan first stepped into the spotlight at LIGHTbeamers during one of our annual storytelling challenges in the Fall of 2019. Immediately following the challenge, Susan joined our VIP membership, the Visibility Accelerator.

What I noticed about Susan right away was her tenacity and consistency.
She was eager to learn, and willing to share her story! Every single month since she joined, Susan has showed up for every group strategy call and she's participated in all of our quarterly challenges and ongoing story prompts. I'm so impressed by her willingness to try things new and take action!

I love an action taker -- and Susan is an action taker!

When I first had the idea to start these monthly Spotlight features, Susan immediately came to mind as the type of person I wanted to feature.

I admire women who do the work. If Susan says she's going to give something a try, you can bet she will. She's always sharing her progress with us inside the Accelerator and implementing new ideas after all of our trainings.

I am excited to share Susan with you and invite you to follow her channels (her IG feed is gor-geous!!)

APRIL: Tell us what sort of magic are you up to in the world?

SUSAN: Many years ago, I was introduced to a Life Coach in New York City. At that time life coaching was a new profession and I was intrigued by her work and her lifestyle. And I was bored and frustrated with my job in London! So, we started working together via weekly phone calls. Gradually, I was able to see the possibility of a different lifestyle for myself and even though I was worried about leaving my highly paid City job, eventually I took the leap, trained as a Coach and set up my business.

Since then I’ve worked with many large corporate clients and inspiring female business owners. But what has been most important, for me, is that I’m able to live and work based on my values of freedom, creativity and health. Something I never felt was possible in my corporate life. I often wonder what might have happened if I’d not met my Life Coach. That chance encounter was the catalyst for a major change in my life which I could never have imagine at the time.

APRIL: What does being a LIGHTbeamer mean to you?

SUSAN: Being a LIGHTbeamer means having the courage and confidence to share my story as a way to connect and engage with others. And to be part of a growing community committed to positive change and transformation through the lives we lead and the work we do.

APRIL: What is one piece of advice you'd give to another woman about using her voice and sharing her story?

SUSAN: It’s really important as women we find our voices and share our stories as a way to support and inspire others. We have this opportunity to make an impact on the lives of others, in many different ways, through our own lived experiences and just being our unique selves. We all love to listen to stories. They can be life-transforming and life-enhancing. And we all have this storytelling gift within us. Sometimes we just need a little support and encouragement from others to show up and be visible.

APRIL: What do you love most about your work?

SUSAN: Since setting up my own business I’ve had such a rewarding time. I’ve loved the people I’ve met, the clients I’ve worked with and the opportunity to learn, experiment and be creative.

APRIL: What are you busy creating now?

SUSAN: Currently, I’m developing my programme of on-line Classes and virtual Networking events, which I started earlier this year. They are proving to be very popular and my community is growing as a result. It’s been a great way to bring women in business together. I also have a small health and wellness business, which I’ve been nurturing for a few years. It’s now beginning to blossom as we become more aware of the importance of caring for our emotional and physical wellbeing with natural solutions.

APRIL: How do you relax after a busy week?

SUSAN: After a busy week I love to relax by soaking in a big hot bath filled with Epsom Salts and Essential Oils and listen to Crystal Singing Bowls, which are great for relaxation and meditation.

APRIL: What kind of things do you like doing outside of work?

SUSAN: Outside of work I like to spend time nature. I live in the countryside surrounded by beautiful walks and historic houses. I love exploring these old country houses and finding out about the history of the former occupants and the lives they led. I also love photography, so you’ll always find me out and about with a couple of cameras!

I can attest, Susan's photos are gorgeous! You'll love following her and learning more about this bright LIGHT. Be sure to send her a comment to let her know you saw her Spotlight feature here @ LIGHTbeamers!
